Barone made an appearance in the fourth season Seinfeld episode The Shoes as Gail Cunningham a chef who wanted Elaine Benes shoes. Barone was cast of Carol & Company, starring as Carol Burnett in the early 1990s. Barone was Carol Willick Ross Geller's ex-wife in the initial Friends appearance. Jane Sibbett was her replacement as Barone left Friends in order to pursue a role that demanded more time.
